Treating surgical patients’ pain by cooling the mouth from the inside out has never been truly effective. That is why, dental practitioners have largely settled on imperfect methodologies for relieving oral pain.
With the development of Denta-Cool™, a better solution for keeping the mouth comfortably cold for an extended period has become available.
The technology contrasts with other cold therapy treatments, significantly improving the effectiveness of the treatment by engaging the entire oral cavity from the inside and cooling it more uniformly.
The intraoral scan at left (above) shows the subject’s heat distribution before the Denta-Cool™ mouthpiece was administered. At the right, the scan shows the heat distribution afterwards. The light area indicates the highest temperature, the dark shows the lowest.
The device was tested on 12 people in a room maintained at 21.1 degrees Celsius. The device was held in the mouth for 30 minutes with the oral cavity scanned just prior to insertion, and immediately after it was removed.
Now, however, a perfect solution for keeping the mouth comfortably cold for an extended period is available. The technology contrasts with ice chips that only cool the lower half of the oral cavity.
The Denta-Cool™ reduced patients’ oral temperature by an average of 17.4 degrees Celsius.
Also, the Denta-Cool™ mouthpiece cools the oral cavity more uniformly.
